Chicago's "97.5 ESPN Deportes" launches (Feb. 1) on an FM translator

The Windy City's first FM Spanish sports station "will cover downtown Chicago and will also reach largely Hispanic/Latino neighborhood communities" such as Cicero, Berwyn and Pilsen, says ESPN Audio. The format enters the market via a deal with Clear Channel, says ESPN Deportes Radio general manager Oscar Ramos. He calls the introduction into the #3 market "a milestone for the ESPN Deportes brand, and yet another step forward in our effort to make ESPN Deportes Radio available to Hispanic sports fans nationwide." Earl Jones is Clear Channel's market manager for Chicago, and Ricardo Otero, the PD at Clear Channel's "Mega 95.5" WNUA, will also oversee "97.5 ESPN Deportes."
