Chicago's Jack FM gets in trouble for electronic road signs

Messages like “JACK needs girls” and “104.3 needs beer” would never have been approved by the city, even if CBS Radio’s Jack FM (WJMK) had applied for permission to put them up around this weekend’s Bon Jovi concerts, near Soldier Field. The Sun-Times has pictures of the signs, which looks just like temporary traffic warning signals. One of the messages: “Jack FM smells a skunk.” The paper says after it asked about the signage “and after several motorists calls 311 to complain, city crews were dispatched to the scene” and they turned the signs away from traffic. They also notified contractor Roadsafe Traffic Systems. The city’s deciding whether to fine Roadsafe, while variety/classic hits Jack gets a lot of publicity out of the stunt. The Chicago Board of Radio-Info is talking about whether Jack went too far, here.
