Chicago's Steve Dahl teases "my new career plan"
Dahl has been off the air in Chicago – but getting paid by CBS – since he was taken off mornings at "Jack FM" WJMK (104.3) in late 2008. His long non-compete is up this week, and Time Out Chicago's Robert Feder says "if you believe what he tweets, he'll announce his plans to the world at noon Monday." Many in Chicago suspect his next employer will be Randy Michaels' Merlin Media, and that Dahl will be part of Merlin's plans for one of the two Chicago FMs it's soon going to begin operating under an LMA with Emmis. Dahl's been part of Chicago radio for well over 30 years, and he's kept his pipes in shape by doing a daily podcast. (He says he and his wife Janet became grandparents last night, and he'll talk about that on today's podcast. See the Dahl website here.) The Chicago Board at Radio-Info.com is developing its opinions about the Steve Dahl/Randy Michaels rumors.
