Chico Bormann resigns from Cumulus sports WRIE-AM Erie: Not enough money
Veteran sports talk host Chico Bormann resigned from weekday afternoons at Cumulus Media’s WRIE-AM (ESPN 1260 The Score) Erie, last week, telling the Erie Times-News, “They weren’t going to pay me what I felt I needed to continue. I was making $40 a day.” Bormann cited recent pay cuts and an unwillingness on the part of management to negotiate his salary as host of "Chico & Co." He had been on Erie radio since 2001, first on-air at Connoisseur Media’s sports WFNN-AM (1330 The Fan), before moving to The Score in 2007. Cumulus Media Erie GM Jim Riley told the newspaper, "We regret his decision to depart. We think we had a very popular show with him and had good response from listeners." The station intends to replace Bormann with another local sports talk show in the time slot. The host, meanwhile, has no immediate prospects, but told the Times-News he hopes to remain in sports radio, albeit probably not in Erie.
