Cincinnati's new talk station at 1160 is "Real" – not "Q"
Owner Christian Broadcasting System chooses to avoid a potential fight with Bonneville over the rights to the “Q” name, and won’t call its new general talk format “Q”, after all. The lineup – Laura Ingraham, Neal Boortz, Dave Ramsey, Dr. Laura, Jerry Doyle, Rusty Humphries, Phil Hendrie – debuted today. The station had previously been LMAing its time to Alchemy Broadcasting, a local group that did oldies on the station that’s been known as WDJO, Florence, KY. It appears the WDJO calls are going to another AM, which Alchemy is buying outright – WCIN at 1480. The 1160 will take new calls of WQRT. But they won’t follow through on earlier plans to call the station “Q talk.” New slogan – “Real Talk 1160.” The station website is here. The Cincinnati board features several threads about the debut and how this might change the talk landscape, here.
