Citadel's surprising cut in San Francisco: KSFO talker Melanie Morgan
Her own husband Jack Swanson - who programs sister KGO - didn't even know she was being riffed until she told him after Monday's 5-9am morning shift on conservative talk KSFO (560). Bay area blogger and former San Jose Mercury radio columnist Brad Kava says Morgan "is a very compelling, very prolific talkhost", all the more so for being a "late convert" to conservatism. Morgan has organized successful protests (she helped launch the recall of Democratic Governor Gray Davis) and has been a regular guest on cable news channels and a columnist on WorldNetDaily.com. Now she's out after 14 years, without a chance to say goodbye. Until yesterday, Citadel's San Francisco combo (KGO/KSFO) hadn't produced any obvious layoffs, even while Citadel was cutting jobs in New York, Chicago, L.A., Washington and Atlanta.
