Clear Channel CEO Bob Pittman keynotes the Country Radio Seminar
Pittman praises the strength of country music, which is heard on more than 2,000 U.S. stations – 120 of them owned by Clear Channel. The Tennessean was at the Nashville Convention Center and reports that Pittman defends the role of corporate programming in some situations. He says, "It's like television. If you've got Jay Leno, he's better than the local TV guy." Clear Channel is widely using such personalities as Ryan Seacrest. Pittman continued his role as radio industry advocate, pointing out that radio reaches more than 90% of Americans every week, and is one of the the three strongest media forms. Pittman tells CRS 2012 that radio is "rock solid" in strength and reach.
