Clear Channel flips Detroit's WDTW “The Beat” to Classic Rock as “106.7 the ‘D’”
It’s been a little over two years since CC dropped country on the signal and debuted the Rhythmic AC format in September 2009. The Detroit market had been a crowded one for the Top 40 format, with the former “Beat” competing against Clear Channel top 40 sister, WKQI, CBS Radio’s WDZH “98.7 Amp”, and Cumulus-owned Hot AC WDVD. “Detroit is a rock city, and 106.7 The D will bring the next generation of classic rock to this city,” says Todd Thomas, Operations Manager, Clear Channel Radio Detroit. “Listeners who graduated in the ’80s finally have a music station to listen to again. 106.7 The D will play great songs for everyone born, raised and rocked in Detroit.” Currently, the new “D” is playing 10,000 songs in a row, including acts such as Van Halen, AC/DC, The Police, and Rush. Take a listen to the new “D." See the early reviews from the Detroit Board of Radio-Info.com, here.See the early reviews from the Detroit Board of Radio-Info.com, here.
