Clear Channel transfers PD Mike McCoy from Columbus, Ohio to Detroit's WKQI
Clear Channel in Detroit is bolstering its CHR format management, bringing in Mike McCoy, who is PD of Columbus, Ohio sister-stations Top-40 WNCI-FM (97.9) & WLZT-FM (93.3). McCoy will oversee Motor City Top-40 WKQI-FM (95.5), known as “Channel 95-5.” Clear Channel Detroit OM Todd Thomas says, “Mke’s experience and track record in the CHR format, as well as his knowledge of the Channel’s market history, makes him the perfect choice.” In Columbus, Ohio Media Watch says Laura Lee adds interim program director duties at WNCI, while WCOL-FM (92.3) PD John Crenshaw becomes interim PD of WLZT. Clear Channel has 7 stations in its Detroit cluster, and McCoy is expected to have other duties within the cluster as well. In other news at the station, Shannon Murphy, (former ABC’s The Bachelor contestant) joins as their new morning show co-host. Read more about Murphy here.
