Clear Channel's iHeartRadio adds 14 college stations to digital service
Clear Channel is going to college. Its iHeartRadio digital radio service is adding 14 college stations to its panel of 800+ outlets, launching later this month. Comprising the initial roster: Appalachian State’s rock WASU, Boone, N.C.; Connecticut College’s WCNI, New London, Conn.; Dartmouth College's modern rock WFRD, Lebanon-Rutland-White River Junction, N.H.; Denison University’s block programmed WDUB, Granville, Ohio; DePaul University’s blocked WRDP, Chicago; Emerson College’s adult alternative WERS, Boston; Flagler College’s blocked WFCF, St. Augustine, Fla.; Green River College’s alternative KGRG, Seattle-Tacoma; Ithaca College’s modern rock WICB, Ithaca, N.Y.; Rice University’s blocked KRTU, Houston; Seton Hall University’s hard rock/metal WSOU, South Orange, N.J.; Stanford University’s blocked KZSU, San Francisco; Temple University’s blocked WHIP, Philadelphia; and College of Wooster’s blocked WCWS, Wooster, Ohio. Clear Channel Media and Entertainment President/CEO John Hogan says the new iHeartRadio initiative “is a great source of local and independent programming that offers users a more diverse listening experience and provides listeners new opportunities for music, news and sports exposure and discovery.” Additional stations will be added to the roster in the coming months.
