CMA Broadcast Nominations Honor 30 Stations
A total of 30 stations have been honored with nominations in the Country Music Assn.’s broadcast awards, 11 of which scored two nominations apiece this year including all five nominees in the medium market category.
In the nationally syndicated air personality category, the three nominees vying for the prize are Crook & Chase, Lon Helton and Lia Knight (pictured). Helton has won the award four times in the past. Knight has taken home the trophy twice. Despite four previous nominations, Crook & Chase have never won in the category.
Stations scoring dual nominations (in both the station of the year and air personality categories) are: WQYK Tampa, Fla.; KVET Austin, Texas; WIVK Knoxville, Tenn.; WGNA Albany, N.Y.; KFDI Wichita, Kan.; KXKT Omaha, Neb.; WBBS Syracuse, N.Y.; WUSY Chattanooga, Tenn.; KUAD Fort Collins/Greeley, Colo.; WFRE Frederick, Md.; and KCLR Jefferson City, Mo.
Following a complete list of nominees, selected by a panel of broadcast professionals, representing all market sizes and regions. Winners will be notified in mid-October and will be acknowledged at the 44th annual CMA Awards, to be held Nov. 10 and broadcast live by the ABC Television Network from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
