Community radio in Thailand is investigated following threats against the government

The order came after a local community radio host allegedly threatened the life of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva during a broadcast. The Bangkok Post says Phetcharawat Watanapongsirikul, a radio show host and political leader, could face arrest after saying on the air “he would take the life of Mr Abhisit when he visited the city next Sunday.” In addition, the government’s National Telecommunication Commission has been ordered to examine the licenses of as many as 20 community radio stations that incited listeners to kill the Thai prime minister. If found guilty of of incitement, the community stations face the threat of having their license taken.
