"Cost-saving measures" boot Santita Jackson from urban/talk WVON-AM Chicago
The eldest daughter of the Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Santita Jackson, exits Midway Broadcasting urban news/talk WVON-AM (1690) Chicago, after five years hosting 9 a.m. to noon. Robert Feder shares in his TimeOut column that she became a full-time talk host after producing TV and radio shows for her father. “Cost-saving measures” at the station are to blame, although Midway chairman and WVON GM Melody Spann Cooper believes Jackson has a national platform in her future. Clear Channel owns expanded-band WVON, licensed to Berwyn, Ill., but leases it to Midway.
