Cox will use Dayton as a test-tube market
More from Wednesday’s reorganization of Cox Media Group involving radio, TV and newspapers. Cox says “because of its market size and the mix of media, Dayton is the perfect market to test new ways to manage our media businesses.” It’s the only market where a Group VP (Alex Taylor) will directly manage radio, TV and newspaper (Dayton Daily News, plus smaller papers like the Middletown Journal). This morning’s T-R-I newsletter observes that new Dayton Group VP Alex Taylor is “family.” He’s the great-grandson of Cox Enterprises founder Governor James Cox. In his career, he’s been a newspaper reporter, editor, business manager and publisher – currently at the Palm Beach Post – and he’ll run a radio-TV-newspaper cluster. More talk about the Cox reorganization on the Atlanta Board, in Cox’s home market, here.
