Crowd-sourcing radio technology company "Jelli" gets $7 million in new funding

Jelli, which first tested CEO Mike Dougherty’s idea on CBS Radio’s Live 105/KITS in San Francisco, says it will use the new capital for “radio market expansion, new product development and team growth.” The Series A round of funding is led by Battery Ventures, whose CEO Satya Patel is a former Google executive. He’ll take a seat on the Jelli board. The social networking feature of Jelli allows uers to say that a song “rocks” or “sucks”, moving the song up or down the playlist on the live radio show. Jelli signed with Triton Digital Media in March to offer the service nationally. The original Sunday night pilot on CBS Radio’s alternative “Live 105” has expanded to six days a week.
