Curtis Wright is fired from Wilmington, North Carolina's "Big Talker"
Morning host Curtis Wright has been cut loose by Sea-Com Media-owned WLTT-FM (106.3) in Wilmington after a 3 ½ year run in morning drive. Management gave no solid reason for Wright’s dismissal, sending out a press release to area media saying that “Today Curtis Wright, Morning Show Host on the BIG Talker FM, was terminated from his position with the radio station … Curtis has built a large audience and filling his shoes will be a challenge.” Wright was sued by former Raleigh mayor Tom Fetzer last year. Wright allegedly sent an email to to state Republican leaders claiming Fetzer was gay. Wright later apologized, and the lawsuit was dropped. Sea-Com VP/GM Paul Knight that added a replacement for Wright is expected to be named within days.
