Dallas Christian station KVTT to sign off after 34 years

closed

It was nearly a year ago that KVTT in Mineral Wells, Texas outside of Dallas was in such dire financial straits it was forced to sell its FM frequency (91.7) to remain alive. The station moved its Christian format to the daytime-only 1110-AM, which has been its home for the last year. However, the same plight that caused them to abandon their FM signal, the tough economic times, plus a weaker broadcast signal, will signal the end of KVTT in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. KVTT will cease operations by Monday and sign off the air. KVTT general manager Doug Price tells DFW.com, “we were unable to build enough of an audience to get the financial support we needed in sufficient time to keep us on the air.” The closure of KVTT will put six full-time and several other part-time employees out of work. Adds Price, “I really do regret it. … But when time is up, time is up. To everything, there is a season.” The Dallas Board of Radio-Info is talking about the loss of KVTT, here.
