Did a former KVI-AM, Seattle promotions person rig a 2007 contest?
That’s the question a prosecutor is expected to determine, as soon as this week. Police in Seattle allege that a former promotions coordinator at Fisher-owned KVI (570) rigged their “Secret Listener Salute” contest in 2007, where selected listeners who called the station after hearing their names won $1,000. Police believe one of the two databases used to determine contestants was rigged by the former employee, who pocketed some of the money by having friends win. The concerns came to light after the station called one person who had allegedly won for tax purposes, and that person claimed they never received the money. The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports that man later confessed the contest was rigged. Fisher Broadcasting contacted the FCC and the policet.
