Emmis rocker KSHE, St. Louis drops Bob & Tom, will use "all-rock" morning show
KSHE "Vice President of Rock" Rick Balis says "KSHE-95 is the longest-running rock radio station in America...we take the title seriously", and so they're dropping the talk-heavy syndicated Bob & Tom show. The station is building a new music-oriented show around local personality John Ulett, to debut January 17. Balis says "John has been playing rock on KSHE for 35 years" and he "understands what St. Louisans want to hear." Emmis will team Ulett with Lauren Lern, who will handle news and traffic reporting. General Manager John Beck says "We have had a long relationship with Bob & Tom and have a deep respect for them." But he says "we are making a change that takes us back to where we started" - playing rock music. The St. Louis Board has been talking about musical and other tweaks at KSHE since October, and the latest is here.
