Entercom the latest radio company to report essentially flat Q3 revenue

Entercom logo That is, excluding the category of political advertising, Philadelphia-based Entercom's revenue would have been unchanged from last year. As reported, Entercom shows as down 2%, to $100.4 million. Last year's third quarter brought political revenues to many media companies, something which won't be repeated in this off-year. In the case of Entercom, it took several actions earlier this year that cause short-term hits to revenue. In the Bay Area, it converted its former country "Wolf" KBWF to an all-sports station named KGMZ (95.7), "The Game." Entercom also created a classic rock "K-Fox" simulcast, ending its commercial-classical operation in San Francisco. And in Boston, Entercom blew up variety hits "93.7 Mike FM" WMKK to simulcast its all-sports WEEI-AM at 850. Those things helped push up third quarter expenses 3%, to $69.5 million. Net income per share was 22 cents, down from 29 cents a year earlier. Free cash flow dropped 12% to $20.6 million, although there was enough for the company to pay down debt by $22.4 million.
