ESPN Radio Senior Program Director Steve Harris exits to join Radio One
The Ohio native emails friends and colleagues that “It’s been an honor to be part of the ESPN Audio team, but it’s time for me to move back to the Buckeye State and chant O-H-I-O.” Radio-Info is told the urban radio veteran is headed to the Cincinnati cluster owned by Radio One, as ops manager for the group that includes urban “Wiz” WIZF (101.1). Radio One’s radio-division president Barry Mayo, a onetime colleague of Harris' in Chicago, is temporarily overseeing Cincinnati and that’s the likely connection. The Cincinnati Enquirer’s John Kiesewetter says Mayo has been “commuting here since May 17, managing the stations” since the surprise exit of GM Lisa Thal and regional VP Rick Porter. Steve Harris will be moving from ESPN HQ in Bristol, CT to the Queen City of Cincinnati.
