FBI sets sights on their own app
A document entitled “Social Media Application” written by the FBI was discovered last week. The document contains inquiries specifically related to extracting information from social networking websites. The FBI wants to create their own app to monitor sites such as Facebook and Twitter for national security threats. Many in the tech world are beginning to question the true intentions of this app and the way it will harvest information. In a statement released by the FBI, they explain, “The application will not focus on specific persons or protected groups, but on words that relate to events and crisis.”
