FDA Developing Their Very Own App
Real-Time Application for Portable Interactive Devices (RAPID) will be the Food and Drug Administration’s app of choice for clinicians and regulators. This new app will eventually gather photos and videos of patients’ reactions who are taking experimental drugs. RAPID will also record verbal medical histories and even display the geographic trends in effects by the GPS location of users. The FDA has yet to contract with a developer that can produce a fully operational app which will be tested on mobile devices first. The ultimate goal of RAPID is to initiate two-way communication between doctors and patients, as well as have the FDA broadcast warnings and directions to doctors during epidemics.
