Fired KLOS, L.A. talent Jim Ladd rallied the rockers on Saturday
(Talk about this story - Jim Ladd, Cumulus and Clear Channel - on the L.A. Board of Radio-Info.com, where there's a re-cap of Ladd's Saturday's guest appearance on KFRI. That's here.)
Jim Ladd had a chance on Saturday (11/5) to say goodbye to his audience from his many years at classic rock KLOS (95.5) - but it was on Clear Channel's talk KFI (640), not Cumulus Media-owned KLOS. KFI PD Robin Bertolucci tells the Orange County Register "It was an honor and a true joy to hear the legendary Jim Ladd on KFI." Many fans of the personality Tom Petty once called "The Last DJ" supported him online. While on the air, the Register's Gary Lycan reels off the names of the stars who phoned in to Ladd's one-off talkshow on KFI:
"John Fogerty, Jackson Browne, Roger Waters, Slash, George Thorogood, David Crosby, and The Doors' John Densmore. Ladd also took calls from actor Billy Bob Thornton, Chris Carter of KLOS' 'Breakfast With The Beatles,' and Bob Buchmann, who lost his job as KLOS program director." Fogerty, of Creedence Clearwater Revival Fame, said "I will come and play at whatever station you will be at." For now, Ladd is off the air in the market where he has been a presence for decades.
