Former Boston WRKO talk host Reese Hopkins fires his lawyer in child rape case
The Boston Herald reports that former WRKO-AM (680) personality Reese Hopkins, in a New York City jail charged with sexual assault of a child, has fired his legal aid attorney. Hopkins told the newspaper from jail that “I’ve done everything to prove my whereabouts [during the crime] and it’s gone ignored by my attorney. This lawyer has no intention of helping me out.” Behind bars for the last 3 months, unable to arrange bail, Hopkins claims his court-appointed attorney has called him only once. Hopkins says he wasn’t in New York City at the time of the alleged assaults of the daughter of his then-girlfriend. Hopkins was one of eight WRKO staffers pink slipped in October, a week prior to his arrest. Here’s what the boards are saying:
