Former Idaho DJ dies following taping of "Wipeout" reality TV show
Tom Sparks was running the first segment of an obstacle course during the October 19 taping of “Wipeout” when he complained of knee pain. On-scene medics immediately sent the former KSKI-FM (103.7) Sun Valley DJ to an area hospital, where his condition steadily worsened following a stroke. The AP reports Sparks was then transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and underwent several brain surgeries. It’s believed Sparks died of antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS), a rare disease that Sparks never knew he had. He was only 33.
