Former L.A. Times Editor Russ Stanton to non-commercial KPCC Radio

KPCC Los Angeles Stanton will be "Vice President of Content", and Southern California Public Radio President Bill Davis notes that under his leadership at the Times, the newspaper won three Pulitzer Prizes and grew its online audience to the second-largest, among major news sites. Stanton was the editor of the Tribune-owned Times from 2008 until late last year. Davis says "As a news organization, all of us here at KPCC (89.3) have great respect for the Times, and admiration for the work Russ did there during his tenure as editor." Davis says "hiring Russ reflects SCPR's commitment to providing the highest-quality journalism and to creating a public forum to debate the most important issues of the day."

At news/talk KPCC, Stanton will oversee the newsroom. Also its on-air programming at KPCC, KUOR in Riverside (89.1) and KVLA in the Coachella Valley (90.3). Plus the digital content on KPCC and other sites, and all of SCPR's live events. Stanton calls KPCC "a shining example of quality journalism that fosters a better understanding of our region."
