Former "Score" Chicago host Mike Murphy sues CBS over his non-compete
The lawsuit filed in Cook County court in Illinois by former WSCR-AM (670) “Score” host Mike Murphy alleges that the terms in the company’s employment contracts are illegal. Crain’s Chicago Business reports the lawsuit, filed as a class action. It centers on the claim that “geographic restrictions on where an employee can seek work 90 days before leaving CBS and six months afterward are prohibited by Illinois law.” Murphy was let go by the CBS Radio-owned station last summer, and his non-compete ended recently. Murphy tells Crain’s, “situations like this are a flagrant disregard [of] Illinois law.” CBS Radio had no comment on the pending litigation.
