Fred Grandy exits WMAL, Washington's "Grandy Group", amid talk of politics
The actor and former House member is supposedly due to talk about what happened this morning as a guest on Baltimore talk station WCBM (680). His wife is also joining him, says DCRTV.com, and the topic may be radical Islam, and whether he was asked not to talk about it on Citadel's WMAL (630). That station is continuing to call the morning show The Grandy Group, but says on its website that "Fred has informed WMAL of his intention to resign from the station." It says "Veteran broadcast talent Bryan Nehman will continue to anchor the morning program and in the interim will be joined by several notable guest hosts and regular contributors." The DCRTV.com site reported on Wednesday that "Grandy wanted out of his contract...and that's apparently what he got in a meeting with WMAL program director Drew Hayes and assistant program director Bill Hess after his Wednesday show." The meeting reportedly was "loud." The Washington-Baltimore Discussion Board at Radio-Info.com is talking about Grandy and WMAL.
