From Day 1 of BIA/Kelsey Digital Strategies: "Where's our leader today" in radio?
Kevan Fight, the CEO of American Eagle Media in Ohio stands up to ask RAB chief Jeff Haley where radio’s leaders are, at a time when they’re needed. Haley says executives such as Jeff Smulyan at Emmis (a Wednesday keynoter) and David Field at Entercom and the brass at Clear Channel are among those who know it’s time to “move from selling inventory to being a marketing partner.“ Another spirited question came from Quu CEO Joe Harb, who says “radio is not there yet” when it comes to thinking about new media opportunities such as smart phone apps. Haley returns to the BIA/Kelsey event in Jersey City today for an appearance on a 3:15 panel titled "Reinventing Local Radio”, along with GAPWest CEO Erik Hellum and Tom Davis of Virginia’s Tide Radio.
