Gameplaying in D.C.? Why does “CBSWashington.com” lead to “WTOP.com”?
From today's TRI Newsletter: This little diversion of domains has been going on for several days. Think of the hijacking of CBSWashington as a “welcome to Washington” note from all-news WTOP, owned by Hubbard Radio. It is being challenged by CBS in the all-news arena, with "All News 99.1" sent to debut in January. No doubt the CBS lawyers will be writing stern letters about the legal rights to the name "CBS" when it comes to domain names. But someone (Hubbard?) has taken a shot across the bow of CBS. Click here to see if the diverted domain is still up. If it is, you'll see WTOP.com, including a $500 Facebook cash promotion. To subscribe to the daily TRI Newsletter from Radio-Info.com, or any of our other newsletters such as "Ross On Radio", "Stark Country" or "connected: the future of new media", click here.Previous and Next Stories
