Geraldo Rivera to host an L.A.-only daily show for KABC, starting Jan. 30
Geraldo's 10am to noon spot on the schedule at talk KABC (790) was already known, but it wasn't clear whether this was a delayed version of his new 10am-noon daily show on Cumulus sister WABC, New York (770). Now Cumulus says Rivera will host the KABC show from studios in New York, but it will be a separate program just for Los Angeles. Geraldo debuts on KABC January 30. He will follow John Phillips (9am to 10am) on the revised schedule. Until January 30, Phillips will handle all three hours of late morning at KABC, 9am to noon. Cumulus says "Rivera maintained a residence in Los Angeles for 25 years, until the attacks of September 11, 2011 ended his bi-coastal life." Geraldo's slogan for his new radio shows: "Not Red. Not Blue. But Red, White and Blue." Rivera tells the Orange County Register that his first guest on KABC will be onetime Malibu neighbor Cheech Marin. The New York Board of Radio-Info.com has some earlier reviews of Geraldo on the radio, here.
