Honolulu's KHCM-AM picks up Chinese programming from government-owned China Radio International

It’s a question of economics – steady revenue for KHCM owner Salem Communications – and not politics. Erika Engle in the Star-Bulletin reports the dramatic change at KHCM (880), as it drops out of a simulcast with country sister KHCM-FM (97.5) to begin an LMA with China Radio International. Salem has been simulcasting the pair for nearly two years. But CRI came to Salem, which sees money and a chance to add more diversity to the local dial with programming in Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean and Japanese.
