"Hot 104.1" in St. Louis nabs rapper Nelly for afternoon drive – for a month
A two-time Grammy Award winner who has been in a movie with Adam Sandler and has his own clothing line will now add “afternoon drive DJ” to his resume. The rapper known as Nelly has agreed to take over afternoons on WHHL-FM (104.1) in St. Louis for the next month, while current afternoon host Staci Static is on maternity leave. WHHL PD Mickey Johnson tells the Post-Dispatch, “I was looking for someone local and someone who had that star power. Someone not to replace Staci but (someone) who could continue to drive the ratings and make it interesting.” Nelly will play songs, which could even include some of his own music, as well as interact with listeners and do interviews.
