Howard Stern tells Piers Morgan he nearly retired last year

Howard Stern In an interview with Larry King replacement Piers Morgan on CNN, Howard Stern opened up about a number of issues, including Jay Leno, his father, and his future in radio. Stern tells CNN, "Really, why am I doing this anymore? It makes me crazy. I hate getting up early in the morning, and I don't particularly like doing the show" but added he is "driven by a neurotic compulsion" to make the show what it is. Stern, however, stayed with Sirius XM who resigned the "King of All Media" to a new five-year contract estimated at $80 million annually. Among other highlights, Stern says he has also been driven to please his parents, he's a homebody, saying "I don't like to leave the house. I like to stay home, but I'm fascinated by human behavior," and about his distaste for Leno, "He's not fit to scrub David Letterman's feet ... America must be filled with morons who at night lay in bed -- the ones who are watching him. They must be in a coma." CNN has more from Morgan's interview with Stern here.
