Huge jumps for Pandora in Triton Digital online rankers for August
One possible explanation: Triton Digital had reported in previous months that some of Pandora's data was missing due to an inadvertent omission from Pandora's own software. Triton Digital, which produces the Internet audio rankers formerly known as the Ando Media research, said that omission would affect June and July. Indeed, the just-released August data shows a healthy surge for Pandora, in both Average Active Users (similar to broadcast radio's AQH) and Session Starts (something like "cume"). Here are Pandora's Active Users for June, July and August: 611,804 in June to 598,679 in July, and now nearly 800,000 (799,190) for August. For Session Starts, Pandora jumps from about 207.6 million in July to 316 million in August. #1-ranked Pandora is followed by #2 CBS Radio, #3 Clear Channel, #4 Citadel Broadcasting (prior to the merger with Cumulus) and #5 Slacker Radio. CBS, Clear Channel and Citadel all showed growth in both Active Sessions and Session Starts from July to August. Read the latest Triton Digital top 20 rankers for August here.
