In Washington State, JOSH Broadcasting is the offspring of 2 other groups
From today's TRI Newsletter: In southwestern Washington State, Jodesha Broadcasting and Sunnylands Broadcasting each contribute an FM to the new “JOSH Broadcasting.” Two objectives: #1, to get Jodesha’s KANY (93.7) moved in toward Seattle’s South Sound, and #2, to get Sunnylands’ existing construction permit for Ilwaco, Washington turned into one licensed to Oakville, also closer to the South Sound.
How good a Tacoma/Olympia-area signal could KANY be? The first stated goal of the new JOSH Broadcasting is “developing KANY, contributed by Jodesha Broadcasting, by eliminating a broadcast notch that interferes with reception of its signal in the Seattle market.” KANY is currently a Class C3 licensed to Ocean Shores, with 14,000 watts at 400 feet. But it’s got a construction permit to edge closer to the South Sound by re-licensing to Montesano as a C0 (C-zero), with 33,000 watts at 2,221 feet. Its new antenna location would be just south of the Olympic National Forest, moving northeast toward the beckoning Seattle metropolis. The new JOSH is also focused on the construction permit for a second FM. It’s a Class A at 98.5 licensed to Ilwaco, but Sunnylands is applying to move it to Oakville as a C3. One more element of this deal: Sunnylands will commit up to $500,000 in cash, as needed, to the work of JOSH.
