Indy's "Oldies 101.9" WKLU sold to Christian non-com K-Love
The Indiana Board at Radio-Info.com first detected this rumor a month ago, then started posting heavily about it going into the weekend. Now both today’s Taylor on Radio-Info newsletter and the Indiana Radio Watch are reporting that owner Russ Oasis is selling WKLU, Brownsburg, IN to “K-Love” parent Educational Media Foundation. The price is $4,750,000, plus $1,550,000 for the studio and the building. T-R-I observes that $4.75 million and 1.55 million add up to $6.3 million, which is $100,000 more than Russ Oasis paid for the Class A classic rock “Kool 101.9” in 2004. Broker on the latest WKLU sale is Florida-based Mike Bergner. The Indiana Board is now turning its mind to the question of whether EMF will re-purpose its existing K-Love affiliate, WIKL, Greencastle (90.5) to clear its other networked Christian music format, the hybrid CHR/rock “Air 1.” The Board discussion is here.
