Iowa sportscaster Ed Podolak retires following internet picture controversy
Longtime University of Iowa football voice Ed Podolak is hanging up his headphones, after some unflattering pictures were posted on the Internet. The former college and professional football star, and member of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame, was seen in 3 pictures posted on a football fan website. What was wrong? In one, he was seen looking down a woman’s blouse. Podolak told The Des Moines Register, “I am embarrassed by the pictures. It was late in the evening at the hotel, but I am responsible to represent the university, and I am embarrassed by my actions.” He plans to move to Northern California, where he has a real estate business. No replacement yet for Podolak, who broadcast games on flagship station WHO-AM (1040) in Des Moines.
