IRS steps in at Bishop Willis' WAYE, Birmingham (1220)
Willis himself died in February and the paperwork is at the FCC now to transfer his stations to the estate. In the meantime, the IRS has seized payroll accounts at “Gospel 1220” WAYE, according to the Birmingham News. Some recent paychecks bounced and the IRS says those employees will get replacement checks. The federal agency had placed a lien on some accounts at WAYE because of unpaid taxes and/or penalties.
