It's official – "Fan" KDKA-FM picks up the Pittsburgh Pirates
Sister-station KDKA-AM (1020) was the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates for decades. Now the baseball franchise is coming back to the familiar call letters, but this time on the FM dial with sports/talk KDKA-FM (93.7) as flagship for 38 radio stations. CBS and the team signed a multi-year deal. CBS Radio SVP/Market Manager Michael Young says, "We are very pleased and proud to present Pirates games on Sportsradio 93-7 The Fan, as well as utilize our three other local stations to bring the experience of Pirates baseball to area fans.” The broadcasting team of Greg Brown, Tim Neverett, John Wehner and former Pirates pitchers Steve Blass & Bob Walk will continue to call the games. The Pittsburgh Board of Radio-Info.com has been following this topic since mid-September, here.
