Jelli signs Atlanta's “Project 9-6-1” WKLS as its first Clear Channel affiliate

Jelli From today's TRI Newsletter: CEO Mike Dougherty started pilot-testing the crowd-sourcing Jelli concept on his hometown “Live 105” KITS, San Francisco, owned by CBS, and it’s spreading from there. Today Jelli announces rock WKLS as its first client in the Clear Channel universe. They’ll brand the evening show “Remote Control Radio”, alluding to the “social media game” angle that lets listeners use their computers and mobile devices as tools to steer the music (and even kill it in mid-play, if enough users think it “sucks”). WKLS is a logical first step for Jelli and Clear Channel. As PD Chris William says, “Project 9-6-1 was launched in 2006 with an experimental spirit and a promise to push things forward.” TRI recently interviewed Jelli innovator Mike Dougherty – a non-radio guy who figured radio could benefit from crowd-sourcing – and you’ll be reading more about Jelli in a future issue. The Atlanta Board of Radio-Info.com is talking about the introduction of Jelli here.
