Joel Burke resigns as PD at Denver's country KYGO (98.5).
Burke takes what he calls “a leap of faith” and launches “Wooden Media Services”, taking its name and principles from famous basketball coach John Wooden of UCLA. He tells his staff “this seems to be the perfect time for me to pass the torch after celebrating KYGO’s 30th anniversary and KYGO back at #1 in the ratings.” The station has won two CMA Station of the Year Awards, three CMA Morning Show of the Year awards and is nominated for its fifth NAB Marconi Award. Lincoln Financial market manager Bob Call says KYGO music director Garret Doll will take care of day-to-day PD chores until there’s a new PD. Lincoln Financial Media VP/Programming John Dimick is accepting resumes now. Joel Burke’s email is JBurke8899@gmail.com.
