July Internet Audio rankers from Triton Digital: Most players flat or down
Triton Digital supplies good reasons why #1-ranked Pandora and #10-ranked ESPN Radio might be down: "the code that measures audience and time spent listening was inadvertently omitted by Pandora" once again. That was also the case in June, and several times earlier this year. For ESPN Radio, it changed service providers, leading to some likely missed reporting of online listening. A quick refresher about the Triton Digital methodology for the former Ando Media monthly charts. It reports "Average Active Sessions", somewhat like broadcast radio's AQH figure, and also "Session Starts", akin to cume. The ranker below is for the "Domestic" (U.S. content providers only) daypart of 6am to 8pm, Monday through Friday. The top 5, over the past three months:
#1 Pandora: 598,679 Average Active Sessions, down from 611,804 in June and 682,407 in May.
#2 CBS Radio: 131,252 Active Sessions, down from 139,818 in June and 144,001 in May.
#3 Clear Channel: 113,094 Active Sessions, down from 119,471 in June and 122,627 in May.
#4 Citadel: 47,318 Active Sessions, up from 47,735 in June and 47,666 in May.
#5 Slacker: 38,375 Active Sessions, down from 40,410 in June and 38,791 in May.
#6 Entercom stayed flat, around 23,000 Active Sessions, and Cox moves up from #8 to #7, replacing ESPN Radio (now #10). See the Top 20 Chart from Triton Digital here.
