KCRW's Diana Nyad abandons her Cuba-to-Florida swim

KCRW She's a world class athlete who set world records for swimming and endurance. KCRW-FM, Los Angeles non-commercial 89.9) contributor Diana Nyad attempted to swim from Cuba to the Florida Keys, a distance of 90 miles in shark-infested waters. She aspired to be the first person to do it without using a shark cage. The 61-year old Nyad was forced to abandon her quest after swimming for 29 hours, due to rough seas, shoulder pain and asthma. This wasn't the first time Nyad tried the Cuba to Florida journey. She attempted the swim nearly 33 years ago, but was forced to stop, also due to rough seas.
