KNX, Los Angeles anchor will announce TV's "Wheel of Fortune"
On the side, Jim Thornton has done lots of voiceover work in TV, movies (Disney's "Monsters Inc"), live events, video games ("Boom Blox 2", "Mafia II") and TV & radio commercials. He was first heard on all-news KNX (1070) in 1985, doing traffic reports for Metro. He's been hosting the afternoon drive newscasts on CBS Radio's KNX since 2005. Thornton was one of the guest announcers during the recently-ended Season 28 of "Wheel", and now executive producer Harry Friedman says Thornton is the show's choice as its announcer for Season 29. It begins airing September 19. Wheel of Fortune is produced by Sony Pictures Television and distributed by CBS in both the U.S. and internationally. A poster on the Los Angeles Board of Radio-Info.com calls Thornton "one of the nicest guys in the business." That thread is here.
