KTRS, St. Louis general manager and part owner Tim Dorsey to retire in October
Dorsey will be capping off 35 years in St. Louis radio, the last 13 running KTRS (550). The former KMOX staffer led a group in 1997 that acquired then-KSD and turned the format talk, competing with CBS-owned KMOX (1120). KTRS later acquired the play-by-play rights to the NHL St. Louis Blues and the AM station rights to the NFL Rams, and made its biggest strike in 2005, when KTRS won over the baseball Cardinals from KMOX. At that time, Dorsey and his investors sold 50% of the station to the baseball team. Now the St. Louis Business Journal says Dorsey plans to retire in October, though he will maintain his ownership interest in KTRS. The St. Louis Board of Radio-Info.com is talking about Dorsey’s time in St. Louis radio here.
