KUPL Portland Jock Offers To Get Waxed In Exchange For Facebook Fans
Fresh from signing a new contract with the station, country KUPL Portland, Ore., night jock B-Dub is helping drive traffic to the station's Facebook page by volunteering to get his entire body waxed—neck to toes—if the station reaches 40,000 Facebook fans in the next 30 days, a stunt he claims was "totally my idea." He tells Radio-Info.com, "I randomly said it on air. You can add it to the list of off the wall, random stuff I've done since being at KUPL. The first one was running through downtown Portland in my underwear for Facebook fans. Next up was shaving my head. Now a painful day at the spa."He pegs the chances of having to go through with the waxing as "very likely. We were close to 35,000 when we mistakenly set our page restriction to 21 and up, dropping us to 28,200 in a matter of hours. Hence why I volunteered. Well. It looks like its fixed 'cause we are back up to about 39,500 now."
Anticipating his reaction to the waxing, which B-Dub says will be the real deal, not a theater of the mind stunt, he predicts, "I'm going to scream like Steve Carrell in 'The 40 Year Old Virgin.' It will be as real as it can get."
