KUPL Portland Plans 'Royal' Wedding Of Its Own
While the world's attention will be focused on a certain royal wedding in London tomorrow morning, Alpha Broadcasting's country KUPL Portland, Ore., will be hosting a "royal" wedding of its own. The station's "Simon in the Morning" show organized a wedding for two of the station's listeners at Burger King. Yes, Burger King, and the station suggests vows along the lines of, "With this onion ring, I thee wed." The wedding happens at 7:40 a.m., when the happy couple will don paper crowns, step up to the counter in front of family and friends and a live radio audience, and get hitched by air personality (and ordained minister) Clyde Lewis of sister station KXL FM 101. The couple will be driven to the wedding in a 1957 Bentley and will receive prizes including a weekend getaway at the Elizabeth Street Inn on the Oregon Coast and tickets to an upcoming KUPL concert, where the station promises they will be "treated like royalty."Previous and Next Stories
