KUZZ Bakersfield earns special NAB Crystal Heritage Award for community service
The Owens One country station becomes only the third station since the Crystal Awards program was begun in 1987 to win five of them, as recognition for year-round community service. KUZZ (107.9) was long owned by country music star Buck Owens and it has stayed in his family. This is the 25th anniversary of the Crystal Awards, given to 10 stations each year at the NAB Spring Show in Las Vegas. KUZZ and this year's other nine winners will be honored at the Tuesday, April 17 Radio Luncheon. That same event will see baseball broadcaster Bob Uecker inducted into the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame and Donny Osmond delivering the keynote.
